Ernestine Keeney Dockery Simmons, 90 of Early, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016 in Brownwood.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Eastlawn Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, prior to the service.
Ms. Simmons was born on Thursday, Jan. 7, 1926 in Coleman to Thomas Ernest and Lillian Clarice Keeney. Ms. Simmons enjoyed sewing, quilting, and gardening. She attended Crossroads school as a child. She was a retired homemaker, and attended Hillcrest Church of Christ in Coleman.
She leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Alton Wyatt of Early and Wilma Conway and husband of Leavenworth, Kan.; one brother, LeRoy Keeney of Santa Anna; two grandchildren, Michelle Kindell of Troy, Ohio and Scott Conner of Austin; five great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include nieces, Sherlyn Walker, Melba Duke, and Sharon Guthrie; and nephews, Roy Dean Keeney, and Jim Keeney.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Billy Marion Wyatt; and brothers, James F. Keeney, and Richard Keeney.
