Richard was born to Claudie and Elizabeth (Brooking) Walker in Wichita Falls on May 21, 1958. Richard graduated Valedictorian from Brownwood High School in 1976 and from Baylor University in 1980. After graduation, Richard went to work for the Texas Department of Transportation. After a 34-year career, Richard retired in 2013.

On June 12, 1982, Richard married Cindy Carter and they spent their entire married life in Brownwood where they raised their two children.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy; son, Jared and wife Megan of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Tristin and husband Aaron of Round Rock; father, Claudie Walker of Brownwood; brother, Curtis and wife Sherry of Sweetwater; brother, Steve and wife Ann of Cape Coral, Fla. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Walker.

He was a lover of life, an adventurer and traveler, a reader of the classics, and a follower of Christ. His children were his pride and joy and marrying the love of his life was one of his proudest moments. His favorite pastime was drinking coffee on his back porch and admiring God’s creation. The one thing Richard wanted to make sure we all knew was he had a wonderful life filled with love and joy with no regrets.
