Alfred Lee Williams, 99, of Brady, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at St. James Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Kirk as the Eulogist.

Alfred was born Nov. 12, 1916 in Iola to the parentage of Lee and Hattie Williams. Alfred attended school in Brady at the Methodist School which later became Dunbar High School. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and worked as a mechanic technician in the 2052 Quartermaster Truck Company. Alfred received a Honorable Discharge after serving until Jan. 7, 1946. After coming back to Brady, Alfred was employed by the Ford Motor Company for many years doing what he loved to do, “mechanic work.” After getting employed by the United States Post Office, he relocated to Anderson. Alfred moved back to Brady and continued working for the post office until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed mechanic work and working on neighborhood cars. Alfred was a long time, dedicated member of St. James Baptist Church, where he sang in the church choir, was a member of the Brotherhood, was Church clerk and secretary, and volunteered and helped out any way he could.

Left to cherish his memories are his nephews, Charlie Reeves of Houston, Alfred  Reeves of Houston and niece, Oma Sinches of Austin; and a host of extended family and many friends.

Alfred was preceded in death by both parents; brothers, Glenn Williams, Isaiah Williams and Brady Williams; and sister, Nelline Reeves.
