Funeral services for Frank C. Vana Jr., 76, of May, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Curtis Schneider officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Heartland Funeral Home.

He died Sunday, July 11, 2016 in the Comanche County Medical Center.

He was born July 2, 1940 at Omaha, Neb., the youngest child of Frank C. and Maryellen Whetstone Vana. On, Aug. 31, 1979 he married E. Jean Vana in Corpus Christi. He joined the United States Army on Aug. 1, 1962 and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of staff sergeant on Aug. 1, 1968. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Brownwood. He was a tool room machinist, carpenter, millwright, telephone craftsman, telephone manager, punch press job shop manager, independent contractor and home builder.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Vana of May; sons, Timothy L. and wife Terry of Pittsburg and John T. and wife Patricia of Brawley, Calif.; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and their children and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Della Mae and Rose Marie; and his brothers, Leo, Ralph, William, Richard, Raymond, George and Samuel.
