James W. (J.W.) Gilley, 89, passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. At his request there will be no services and cremation was under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
J.W. was born on Feb. 15, 1927 in Brown County to Hoyt and Eula Richardson Gilley and served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked 36 years for GTE and after retirement, began farming and was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Gilley; son, R. Hoyt Gilley; daughters, Brenda Chamberlain, Sheila Green and Kathy Lee; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Lee Gilley; grandson, James Hoyt Gilley; and great-grandson, Caleb Hodges. He was loved by most and was right with the Lord.
