Funeral services for Peggy Sue Blackmon Mackey, 80, of Blanket, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at the Blanket First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Rock Church Cemetery in Blanket. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heartland Funeral Home.
She died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 in a local nursing home.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1935 to Ralph and Alma Thompson Blackmon in Blanket, where she married Donald Mackey on July 10, 1954. She was a homemaker, artist and had previously worked at Gibsons and the Brown County Tax Accessor Collecter. She was a member of the Blanket First Baptist Church
Survivors include her children, Dessa Thomas and husband Bill of Zephyr, Ben Mackey and wife Serena of Blanket, Brian Mackey and wife Tammy of Brookesmith, Wesley Mackey and John Tuder of Columbia, Tenn., Joe Don Mackey of Blanket, Valeri Stair and husband Charles of Round Rock; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; one sister, Doris Thornhill and husband Tim of Brownwood; and two great-aunts, Annie Thompson Rose of LaPort and Sarah Thompson of Early.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Bobby Jack Blackmon; and one sister, Melba Blackmon.
