Funeral services for Dorothy Jean Keys, 89, will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Comanche County. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at Comanche Funeral Home.
She died Friday, Dec. 16, 2016.
She was born April 3, 1927, in Comanche to Sylvester and Arbie (Hughes) Hicks. She was owner of several cafes in Abilene, worked as a waitress at Lola’s Café and the Deluxe Café in Comanche, and also worked for Girling Home Health.
Survivors include four daughters, Brenda and husband Ronald Steele of Comanche, Mary Smith of Comanche, Arbie McAliley of Nacogdoches, and Helen Solomon of Deleon; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and one brother, Mack Hicks of Wylie.
She was preceded in death by daughter, Sondra Jean Keys Mitchell; brother, Sherrill Hicks; sister, Helen Summers; one granddaughter; and one grandson.
