Bud Higginbotham, 72, of Bangs, passed away on May 28, 2017 at a local nursing home.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Heartland Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Bud Warren Higginbotham was born on Aug. 25, 1945 to Bryant and Ruby Lee Higginbotham in Floydada. Bud graduated from Floydada High School and attended West Texas A&M University in Canyon. Bud worked for Texas Farm Bureau Insurance for 28 years. He married Janet (Daniel) Higginbotham on March 2, 1991. Bud was a proud member of The First Baptist Church in South Plains.

He liked to spend his time with family and being outdoors in general especially to quail hunt and fish. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, a 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Khiva Shrine Temple of Amarillo. He was Alpha TAU Omega in West Texas University in Canyon, and President of the West Texas Brittany Club for 13 years.

Survivors include wife, Janet Higginbotham of Bangs; son, Bret Higginbotham and wife Brandi of Weatherford; daughter, Shea Porter of Canyon; stepson, Blane Daniel and wife Patti of Bangs;

stepdaughters, Kathy Drisdale and husband Tommy of Denton, Kam Gibson and husband Robert of Conroe, and Kristi Thomas of Bangs; and brother Alton Higginbotham and wife Sue of Burleson. Bud also has 13 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and stepson, Britt Daniel.
