Barbara Jean Vogel, 77, of Bangs, went to her Heavenly Home on Sept. 15, 2017.

She was born July 29, 1940 at Napoleon, Alabama to Henry and Minnie Brown. Barbara graduated from Napoleon High School and received a business degree from Commercial College.

She was married to Herman Vogel July 18, 1959 and moved to Texas. Barbara was a bookkeeper for Herman for several years, worked in the sewing factory for numerous years until she retired. Barbara was an active member of Bangs Church of Christ. She loved to read and crochet in her earlier years.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Donna Vogel of Brownwood; grandsons, Christopher Bell and spouse Kelsey of Hamby and Blake Stembridge of Bangs; brother, John Brown and wife Jane of Roanoke, Alabama; sisters, Fayerine Heard of Wedowee, Alabama and Thelma Lewis of Talladega, Alabama. She is survived by three beautiful great-granddaughters, Cally Bell, Artie Bell and Baigh Bell of Hamby; several nieces, nephews, friends, and her special companion pet, Sammy; sister-in-law Velma Gaumy; and special friend Lisa Stembridge.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Herman Ree Vogel; son, Gregory Wayne Vogel; brother, Kinsman Brown; and three sisters, Marie Richardson, Mattie Chase, Mildred Heptinstall, and Lether Richardson, all of Alabama; and her mother and father-in-law Grover and Eva Mae Vogel.

Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Septe. 18 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17 at the funeral home.
