Pauline Willingham Moore of Brownwood, rejoiced as she entered heaven on March 21, 2018. She was born in Macon, Georgia on May 4, 1912, to Benjamine and Sarah Willingham. She attended school in the Macon Schools and obtained an undergraduate degree from Wesleyan College, also located in Macon, Georgia. Pauline earned an MAE in Religious Education at the Woman’s Missionary Union Training School in Louisville, Kentucky. She married John Allen Moore in Italy and together they began serving as missionaries with the Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptists in Yugoslavia. During the war, they served in other locations and afterwards, returned to Europe to serve at the Ruschlikon Seminary in Switzerland where they both taught. While in Switzerland in post war Germany, they adopted two children. They served for 40 years before retiring and moving to Brownwood.
During retirement, Pauline continued to be an ardent supporter of missions and was active at First Baptist Church, the Latch Key program (then with the Presbyterian Church), Good Samaritan, and other para-church organizations in the area. During the 1980s she sponsored a Vietnamese woman and child in Brownwood during their resettlement. Pauline loved children, particularly those with special needs. She had a keen interest in world news and in helping others and sharing the Good News about the Saving Grace of God through Jesus Christ the Lord.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Allen Moore; son, Edward Moore; and son-in-law, Edward Beasley.
Survivors include Marilyn Beasley of Louisville, Kentucky; and granddaughter and great-grandson of Louisville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pauline wished in lieu of flowers, that memorials be made to the John Allen Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund, Baptist Seminary at Richmond, 3400 Brook Road; Richmond, Virginia 23222.
In her continued spirit of giving, Pauline donated her body to science. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
