Ronnie Wayne Merrifield, 77, passed away April 14, 2018 at his home in Lake Brownwood, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was born in Ballinger on April 2, 1941 to parents O.I. and Francis (McKay) Merrifield.

Ronnie was a businessman, an antique collector, gun and coin collector. He was a builder by trade in recent years, even though he told everyone he was an unemployed carpenter. He enjoyed fishing and loved to travel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronnie Merrifield II; a brother, Odie Merrifield; brother-in-law, Charles (Gene) Wade; and a nephew, Shaw Brewer.

Ronnie is survived by wife, Evelyn Merrifield of the Home; a daughter, Tracey Merrifield of Onalaska; step daughter, Cindy Crawford and husband Robert of Lake Brownwood; step son, Kurt Culverhouse and wife Sharon of Laguona Vista; sister, Linda Karen Brewer and husband David of Eastland; sisters-in-law, Kay Merrifield of Dallas, Musette Snap and husband Ben of Early, Leona Baldwin of Brownwood; brother-in-law, Tommie Gordon of Midland; and by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to the class of 59 of Big Lake where Ronnie grew up. They were friends of a lifetime and he kept in contact with most of them.

Graveside services for Ronnie Wayne Merrifield, 77, of Lake Brownwood, will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 at Rocky Creek Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
