A memorial service for James Ledbetter will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12 at the Early First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.

James Ledbetter, 48, of Early, died suddenly on Tuesday, May 8, 2018. James was a man who lived life to the fullest and loved his friends and family greatly. He always wanted people to smile. He was raised in Cisco and was still a proud Lobo. Growing up, he enjoyed stock showing, team roping, and getting into a little mischief.

James loved people (well most of them.) He enjoyed shooting the breeze with friends. He was full of one-liners and silly jokes that would always make you smile.

James loved kids. He was a “dad” to many over the years and loved when one of his “kids” called or visited. He coached lots of baseball, sometimes from the stands. It was a game he loved and always wanted to share.

James’s pride and joy was his family. His happiest place was anywhere he could be with Jdub, Ella and Tammi. He was at every ballgame or gymnastics meet he could get to, cheering on Ella and Jdub. He truly loved being a dad and husband.

James will be missed greatly, but he always wanted people to remember happy times.

James will join his step-father Charles Skiles in Heaven.

James leaves behind his parents, Janell Skiles of Cleburne and Ronnie and Peggy Ledbetter of Cisco; his wife Tammi Cox Ledbetter; his children, J.W. Ledbetter and Ella Ledbetter; his three brothers, Chris Ledbetter and family of Saginaw, Tony Lucas and family of Denton, and Billy Skiles and family of Lawton, Oklahoma; and mother-in-law, Vikki Cox.

James’s final wish was to be cremated and have his remains sent up in fireworks.

In lieu of flowers and plants, please donate to James’s final show. (The 4th of July was his favorite!)
