A memorial service for Willie Lee Thomas, 73, of Brownwood, will be held at noon Wednesday May 30, at Brownwood Funeral Home.
He passed away Saturday May 19, 2018 at Abilene Regional Hospital.
He was born Feb. 18, 1945 in Tahoka to the late Willie Lee Thomas Sr. and Florence L. Thomas. In 1967, he served in the U.S. Army and served in Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. He received many awards and medals and badges of honor.
Survivors include his wife, Herlean Thomas; eight children: Willie Lee Thomas II of Temple, Broderick Keith Thomas Sr. of Temple, Eric Maxwell of Temple, Willie Lee Thomas III (Lisa) of Coleman, Billy Wayne Thomas of Coleman, Anthony Thomas of Coleman, Virginia Thomas of Coleman, and Vanessa Thomas-Narvaez (Daniel) of Brownwood; four sisters: Daisy Voice-Perkins of Manor, Frances Thompson of Killeen, Nancy Cochran of Dallas, and Barbara Ann Brown of Brownfield; four brothers: Chester Thomas (Sheila) of Muskogee, Oklahoma, Howard Thomas (Jean) of Temple, Roy Thomas of Killeen, and Julius Thomas (Carolyn) of Temple; 27 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two aunts: Josephine McGregor (Emerson) of Smithville, and Rosie Mae McDade (Earnest) of Lubbock; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by both parents: Willie Lee Thomas Sr. and Florence L. Thomas; three brothers: B.H. Thomas, Joe Albert Thomas, and J.E. Thomas; and one sister, Joyce Thomas.
