Donald Joe Joyner, 79, passed away on July 2, 2018 at his residence in Brownwood.

He was born on June 19, 1939 in Bangs to T.J. Joyner and Wilma Wheat.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, T.J. Joyner; his stepfather, Claud Wheat; his mother, Wilma Wheat; as well as his brother, Jerry Joyner.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy Joyner and their three children: daughter, Jayme St. Ama and husband Darrin of Brownwood, son, Joe Joyner of Zephyr, and daughter, Leonda Harrell and husband Tommy of Ballinger; 17 grandchildren, Kynzi Atchley and husband Bob, Sydni Rogers and husband Dakota, Wytni Thompson and fiancé Payton Hamrick, Jessica, Dakota and Sam St. Ama, Jaidan, Jarrah, Jensyn, Maddie and Megan Joyner, Dustin McDaniel, Samantha, Easton, Emylee, Olyee and Alyee Harrell. He had three great-grandchildren, Adysn and Greysn Atchley and Charlynn Davidson. He is also survived by a step-brother, Jack Wheat.

Joe retired from GTE after 30 years of service and was employed part time by O’Reilly Auto Parts for 14 years up until a month before his passing. He loved his family and enjoyed attending all events his grandchildren were involved in, rarely missing anything. He also enjoyed fishing and raising his pigeons and chickens.

Funeral services for Joe Joyner will held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 4 at Heartland Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Zephyr Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
