Paul R. Newton, 66, of Bangs passed away Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Paul will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Wooldridge officiating. Burial will follow at Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Paul was born on Jan. 24, 1952, to Helen Newton in San Antonio. He graduated from Bangs High School in 1970. Paul married the love of his life, Lynn (Brooks) Newton on June 15, 1980, in Thrifty. He was an engineer for the railroad and retired after 42 years.
Paul was a very compassionate and selfless man, he always worried about others before himself. He had kindness not often found. Paul loved spending time with his family and grandkids. He also loved going to Bangs sporting events and watching his grandkids play sports. He enjoyed fishing, mowing his yard, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on.
Paul is survived by his wife of 38 years, Lynn Newton of Bangs; two sons, Evan Newton and wife Alisha of Early, and Lee Jaye Newton of Brownwood; three grandchildren, Macy, Andrew, and Owen Newton; brothers, Rick Newton and wife Dianne, and Justin Newton; and special sister, Jennifer Newton. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Paul Newton; and parents, Glenn and Helen Wilson.
