It is with great sadness that the family of Clara Mae Phelps Wright announces her passing on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018, at the age of 82.
Funeral services for Clara will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Blaylock Funeral Home Chapel with Rick Cavitt officiating. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Clara was born on March 8, 1936, to Oliver Mitchell Phelps and Beulah Mae (Gay) Phelps in Oklahoma and moved to Brownwood at a young age, where she graduated high school, started a family and a career. She demonstrated her love for others as a nurse for 40 plus years, always placing the needs of others above her own. Clara never hesitated to make sacrifices for her family. She was compassionate and loving to every person she encountered. She cared deeply for her family, making great sacrifices for her children and grandchildren. Whether playing games with her children while on call for the hospital, completing puzzles, or playing skip-bo with her grandchildren, Clara loved spending time with family. She treasured the holidays spent at her home with the whole family and cooking enough food for family and any friends that joined. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing keepsake items such as quilts and baby blankets for her family.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Beulah Mae Phelps; her loving husband, Thomas Daughety Wright Sr.; her siblings, Mitchell Lee Phelps, Lois Ann Rhymes, Bob Phelps, Bill Phelps and Linda Phelps; and great-grandchild, Kade Thomas Tiemann.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her survived family: her children, Thomas Wright Jr. and wife Amy, Tonie (Sissy) Wright-Tiemann and husband Lynn, Tammie Wright, and Donna Darden and husband Scott; her 9 grandchildren: Nicole Hamlet and husband Will, Morgan Davis and husband Jeff, Parker Haynes, Boone Haynes, Sheria Hicks, Michael Tiemann, Thomas Tiemann and Brittany, Megan Templeton and husband Kade, Cody Eoff, Chad Eoff and family, Taylor Darden and fiancé Katy, Neelie Turner and husband Steve, and Sydnie Darden; her 5 great-grandchildren: Chelcy Hyatt and husband Justin, Abbi Hicks, Luke Templeton, Jalyn Templeton and Hadley Kuhl; and her two great-great-grandchildren: Amora and Oliver Hyatt. Along with her nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
