Yvonne G. Cook, 88, of Andrews passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Andrews Church of Christ, 201 NW 2nd Street, in Andrews with Minister Leslie L. Boone officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13 at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 in the Holt Cemetery in Holt. Yvonne was born on Nov. 24, 1929 in Stacy to Ernest Gober and Iva Mae Fikes Gober. She was raised in Sheffield and McCamey and graduated from McCamey High School in 1947. She attended the San Angelo Business School for Women and moved back to McCamey, where she worked for National Supply Company.
She married Jack Randall Cook Sr. on June 17, 1950 in McCamey. They lived in McCamey, Denver City, Hobbs, New Mexico and moved to Andrews in 1960, while he worked for Shell Oil Company. She had worked for Elkins Insurance in Andrews and retired from Mims and Stephens Insurance in Midland.
Yvonne and her husband have been involved in the Republican Party for Texas since 1963. They had both served as County Chairperson for Andrews County, and she had served as District Committee Woman. She was a member of the Andrews County Republican Party, Andrews County Republican Women, and the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). She will be remembered for being strong willed, elegant, and loving her church and her family. She loved to paint, had a beautiful voice for singing, and loved to collect many things including elephants. She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
Yvonne is survived by her son, Randall Cook and wife Sandra of Cypress; brother, Dwight Gober and wife Linda of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Tammie Cook of Lubbock; granddaughter, Amanda Pyle and husband Josh of Shallowater; grandson, Zane Cook and wife Kelsey of Andrews; and three great-grandchildren, Avery and Hagen Pyle and Hunter Cook.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 8, 1990; her son, Robert Owen Cook on Dec. 28, 2008; sister, Daphyne Nelson; and great-grandson, Payton Cook.
