Emmett Eugene Payne passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018 at the age of 80. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Nov. 24 at the First United Methodist Church in Coleman. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23 at the Mount Calvary Church of God in Christ.
Emmett was born on Nov. 4, 1938 to the parents of Obey and Blanche Payne. Emmett graduated in 1958 from Humphrey High School. Emmett was a member of AME Methodist Church. Emmett Joined the United States Navy and served for two years before being Honorably Discharged in 1957.
Emmett leaves to cherish his loving memory a devoted family: his wife, Mary Ann Payne; two daughters, Doris Larkin (Tommy), Kimala Edward (Donnie); grandchildren, Charlene Randolph, Na’Talya Payne, Bridgette Hester, Manuel Valles Jr., Courtney Larkin; great-grandchildren, Brijonae Morris, Samara Padgitt, Carmella Kincaid, Sierra Brown, Aiyana Payne, Marley Randolph and Carson Larkin. Emmett also leaves behind his sisters and brothers, Joe Alice Payne, Cherry Ann Jackson, Charlie Payne, Joe Albert, Ernest Jackson, Allen Jackson.
He was preceded in death by son, Alonzo Payne; grandchild, Emmett Lavell Brown, and sisters, Allene Jones and Joy Benjamin.
