Nina was born to Clarence T. and Mary Ella (Perry) Willson on May 24, 1924, in Dulin, Brown County. She graduated from Brookesmith High School and she attended Tarleton State College. She worked as a skilled mechanic at Camp Bowie during World War II; she could disassemble and reassemble a carburetor blindfolded. Nina was a longtime member of Central United Methodist and a member of United Methodist Women.
Nina was a longtime rancher. She worked for Ranchman’s Wool and Mohair for 43 years. She was a volunteer for the Winchell Volunteer Fire Dept. Nina loved word puzzles, leather crafting, gardening, traveling, and cheering the Brownwood Lions and Texas Aggies. She was a champion bowler. She created unique wood whittled gifts. Nina shelled pecans with a pocket knife faster than anyone using a nut cracker and generously gifted bags of pecans.
Her sense of humor energized her socializing with her friends. She generously offered her time and assistance to those in need. Nina truly is from “The Greatest Generation”.
Nina is survived by her two sons, Vernon Carr III and wife Pamela of Universal City, and Timothy Charles Carr of Brookesmith; six grandchildren, Michelle Carr, Micah McDowell and husband Brandon, Willson Carr and wife Miara, Atticus Carr and wife Lauren, Schaeffer Carr, and Forrest Carr; five great-grandchildren, Camryn, Chayse, Ezra, Irah, and Grace; two brothers, Tommy Willson and Percy Willson; and beloved niece, Karen Willson Lancaster.
