Kyle Mitchell Potter Burns was born in San Marcos on Oct. 18, 1990. He died on the evening of March 4, 2019, after a long and hard fought battle with the disease of addiction. The son of Mary Elizabeth (Liz) and Todd Winn Burns (Brent Potter, birth father). Kyle attended High School in Flatonia.

Kyle enjoyed playing and listening to music, skateboarding, drawing, and hanging out with his friends and family. He loved his dogs and treated them like family. He was intelligent and compassionate. Virtually, everybody that met Kyle liked him. He was kind to those around him and a friend to many. When his employer was told about Kyle’s passing, he said, “Kyle was rock star, everyone around here loved him. He was hardworking and respected by his peers.” Despite his struggles, Kyle managed to maintain long term friends and show his love and appreciation for his family.

He adored his three sisters, Katelyn Burns, Victoria Burns and June Potter. He and his mother had a special relationship and his passing has left a hole in her heart that will never completely fill. Kyle spent much of his childhood in the care of the Potters, who picked him up from school and took care of him until his mother got off of work. Their lives revolved around his schedule.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Leslie Potter and Guadalupe Garcia; and his grandmother, Sarah Potter.

Kyle is survived by his grandmothers, Mary Garcia and Reba Burns; and his grandfather, Pierce Burns; uncles, Rudy Garcia and Pierce Burns Jr.; and aunts, Belinda Garcia and Beth Burns.
