Ralph Thomas (Tom) Hatchett, 72, of Reno, Nevada, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 4, 2019. He was born Oct. 19, 1946 in Success, Arkansas to Ralph and Helena (Parks) Hatchett. They moved to Abilene in 1947. After he graduated from Merkel High in 1965, he served in the army from 1965-1968. After the military, he became a Texas Highway Patrolman and later served as a Police Officer in Brownwood. Tom was recognized as Policeman of the Year in 1979. He studied Criminal Justice at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene from 1986-1987. In 1989, he and his family relocated to Las Vegas where he worked as an insurance inspector.

After retirement and his oldest grandson, Eric, graduated from high school, Tom and his wife, Linda, moved to Reno to be closer to their youngest grandchildren, Ansel and Nora. Tom loved spending time with family and enjoyed following and supporting their careers, interests, and activities. He enjoyed a good night of poker with family, loved watching fireworks with his grandkids, going to the bowling alley to watch Eric bowl, and of course watching football and baseball. He was forever loyal to his Texas teams and NASCAR racer Kyle Busch.
