Funeral services for Jackie Brown, 83, of May, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 8 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the May Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 7 at the funeral home.
Mr. Brown passed from this life on Thursday, April 4, 2019 in the Comanche County Medical Center.
Jackie Weldon Brown was born on Dec. 14, 1935 in May to Buster and Lovester (Kennedy) Brown. He was a graduate of May High School and served three years in the National Guard. Jackie retired from Waukesha-Pearce before returning to May in 1981 and went to work for Ross Company, Sivalls, and Lloyd Tischler before fully retiring at age 75. He worked as a welder, mechanic all around jack-of-all-trades. On Nov. 24, 1984, he married Ina Mae Willett at the May First Baptist Church. Jackie’s favorite pastimes after retiring were watch the grandkids play sports and chase them around. He was a very good man, “Pops” to the grandkids, the best anyone could ask for. He loved the Lord with all his heart.
Jackie served the community of May through the May Neighborhood Watch program, the May Volunteer Fire Department, May School Board, where he served several years as president and as president of the May Water Board. He was a member of the May United Methodist Church.
Jackie is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ina Mae Brown; two sons, Tommy Brown and Weldon Brown, both of Rising Star; two daughters, Crystal Hansen of Granbury and Becky Moore of May; daughter-in-law, Diana Brown; son-in-law, Ronnie Hansen; granddaughters, Stephanie Frose, Tamara Minshew, Holli Brown, Candice Gore, Alexis Hansen and Morgan Hansen; grandsons, Wesley, Kenny, Cody and Jacob Brown; great-granddaughters, Claire Auldridge, Vanessa and Megan Frose, Lanna Gore and Sadie Minshew, Layken, Addi, and Emma Brown; great-grandsons, Juakeen and Krispen Frose, Cooper Auldridge, Thomas and Kade Minshew; a brother, Kent Brown; and two sisters-in-law, Andrea Brown and Betty Brown, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Caleb Brown; a brother, Bobby Gene Brown; and in-laws, Von Dene Willett and Kenneth Willett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Cook Children’s Health Foundation, 801 Seventh Ave, Fort Worth, 76104 or to the May Volunteer Fire Department.
