Lora Mae Gifford, 102, of Zephyr, passed away at her home on Monday, May 27, 2019.
Lora was born in Haskell on Jan. 30, 1917 to Luther Marrion Keel and Eugenia Mae Jones Keel. She married Joe W. Gifford on July 30, 1938 in Haskell. They were blessed with four beautiful children who were their pride and joy. Then, in 1959, they were blessed with an additional family who they loved dearly.
Lora was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she served faithfully for several decades. Her hobbies included gardening, making porcelain dolls, and making jewelry. However, her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Verle Rice and husband Eddy, and Marscilla Grice; son, Sammy Spurlock; daughter-in-law, Linda Gifford; brother, Roy Keel; 21 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 50 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe W. Gifford; daughters, Joetta Hill, Sheryl Myrick, and Carol Spurlock; sons, Burl Gifford and Johnny Spurlock; sisters, Lela Edwards, Willie Willis, Mable Ingram, Ellen Russell and Laurice Fraley; brothers, Allen Keel and Gene Keel; and her parents, Luther and Eugenia Keel.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29 at the Heartland Funeral Home with the Rev. Phillip Scott and the Rev. Lyn Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Heartland Funeral Home.
