COLEMAN — Funeral services for Balentin G. Diaz, 90, of Coleman, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 2 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Coleman City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 1 at Henderson Funeral Home with rosary to follow at 7 p.m.
He passed from this life on Saturday, June 29, 2019.
He was born Dec. 16, 1928 in Whon, Coleman County, to Pedro F. and Dominga Gonzales Diaz Jr. On March 8, 1952 he married Luciana Vasquez in Coleman.
Survivors include wife, Luciana ‘Lucy’ Diaz of Coleman; five daughters, Sylvia Wells and friend Marks Phelps of Coleman, Juanita Gunter and husband Tom of Grand Junction, Colorado, Veronica Larson and husband Morrie of Cedar Park, Lisa Hollinger and Ray Mulero of Mansfield, and Margie Salas and husband Doug of Coleman; sons, Daniel Diaz Sr. and wife Jackie of Tuttle, Oklahoma, David Diaz and wife Paula of Coleman, Edward Diaz and wife Tammy of Lubbock, Daniel Diaz Jr. and wife Lindsey of Abilene; two sisters, Bessie Quiroz of Abilene and Sammie Espitia of Coleman; two brothers, Luis Diaz of California and Richard Diaz of Santa Anna; 22 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Mary Francis Diaz; son, Valentine Diaz; daughter, Elizabeth Diaz Hurtado; grandsons Tony Diaz and Jeramey Diaz; and eight brothers and sisters.
