Bernadette Schreiner Francois, 88, of Early, walked out of this life into God’s eternal presence, Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Rolling Oaks Personal Care, with family by her side. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10 at High Mesa Cowboy Church with Pastor Todd King officiating. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday Aug. 9 at Brownwood Funeral Home. Services are entrusted to Brownwood Funeral Home.
Bernadette was born in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Michael Schreiner and Elizabeth Welter-Schreiner. She received her primary education from Nebraska City Schools, graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes High School.
Bernadette met and married Robert Francois in 1947 and would remain married until his passing in 1988. Bernadette relocated to Brownwood in 1997 to be closer to her children.
She was an avid gardener, she loved to cook and can, she also loved volunteering at the nursing homes over the years. She loved to play her favorite card game Cribbage and taught all of her children and grandchildren to play also, but most of all she loved being a mother and grandmother.
Bernadette was preceded in death by both parents; husband, Robert Francois; daughters, Diane Schalk, and Patty Wininger; and son in-law, James Rice.
Left to cherish her memories are son, Robert Francois (Kathleen) of Fort Meyers, Florida and their children Tracy Ottens (James), Elischa Christiansen, Robert Francois III (Samantha) and Matthew Francois Sr. (Emily); son in-law, Darrell Wininger of Omaha, Nebraska and children Elizabeth Abrahams (Brian), and Nick Wininger (Katherine); daughter Mary, Francois of Trickham and her children, Jason Edmisten (Jessie), and Jonathan Edmisten (Sarah); daughter Michelle Thomas (Ronnie "Chicken" Thomas) of Brownwood and her son Marshall Thornhill; daughter, Vickie Rice of Trickham; son, Michael Francois (Cindy) of Bangs and their children Taylor Francois, Raelee Francois, and Michael Francois; son, Mark Francois (Judy) of Nebraska City, Nebraska and their children Steven Francois (Adrian), Eric Francois, and Kyle Francois; daughter, Tammy Dyer (Rocky) of Early and their children Jeremy Andrews (Kayla), Dee Akers, Skyler Andrews (Colette); sister, Anna Mae Kaiser (Clarence) of Nebraska City, Nebraska; 20 great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews extended family; and many friends.
