Joe L. Harris, 92, of Brownwood, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2020 in Brownwood. Joe was born on December 3, 1927 in Pride to Dewey Lee Harris and Ester Copeland. He was raised and worked on the family farm, and they moved to O’Donnell, where he met the love of his life, "Corky." He graduated from O’Donnell High School and Texas Tech University. He married Ina Merle Beach on Feb. 9, 1948 in O’Donnell.

They had lived in O’Donnell, Denver City, Wolfforth, and Brownwood. He had owned and operated oil and gas leases, had been in the banking business, and farmed. In Denver City, he had served on the School Board, Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Board, and was a member of the First Baptist Church. In the Lubbock area, he had owned and operated multi-system telecommunication systems. He had been working with his son, Philip, at Harris Broadband in the Brownwood area. He helped organize the Texas State Cable TV Association. He will be remembered for his unwavering faith, loving his family, a man of integrity, respect, honesty, truthfulness, patience, kindness, and led by example to others.

Joe is survived by his three sons, Joe A. Harris of Richardson, Gail Harris of Richardson, and Philip Harris of Early; sister-in-law, Faith Harris of Danville, California; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by wife, Corky, on April 17, 2004; his parents; and five brothers, William, Lee, Jasper, Vernon, and Zane.
