Mary Ann Nickelson of Abilene passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 with family by her side, at Hendrick Hospice Center in Abilene. Viewing will be held Saturday April 25 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Brownwood Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 visitors are limited to 10 at a time.


Mary was born April 16, 1961 in Stamford to Leola Green and Charlie Nickelson. Mary received her primary education from Brownwood ISD. She started working at Smitty's BBQ in Brownwood Texas at age 14 and had served customers for over 30 years. Mary loved to cook, and being around friends and family. Mary opened her home to all and would make everyone feel like family. She was a mother to all, and her passion was to always keep her family together.


Mary was preceded in death by sister, Tommie Dale Nickelson; and brothers, J.W. Nickelson, Joe Wayne Nickelson, Allen Nickelson, Ronnie Nickelson, and Hubert Nickelson.


Left to cherish his memories are daughter, Missy Ann Nickelson of Abilene; son, Thurman Nickelson of Abilene; brothers, Dan Lee Nickelson of Lubbock, Raymond and Christy Nickelson of Lubbock, Troy and Jackie Nickelson of Dallas, Lloyd Nickelson of Dallas, Charles Nickelson of Brownwood, William Nickelson of Brownwood; sisters, Josie and Robert Osborn of Mesquite, Linda Nickelson of Abilene; four grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and many friends.
