Funeral services for C. Wilburn Cox of Early, Texas, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Turnbow officiating. Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery in Comanche County near Gustine, Texas. Mr. Cox passed away Monday at the Brownwood Regional Medical Center at the age of 92. He was born to William Cornelius and Minnie Steward Cox Aug. 2, 1915, in Comanche County.

He was married to Effie Mae Montgomery Jan. 8, 1938, in Comanche, Texas. They were the parents of one son Tony Stephen Cox. Wilburn retired from the Brownwood Independent School District after 26 years of employment. For 17 years he was the Maintenance Director. He and Effie were members of the Grace Baptist Church.

Wilburn is survived by his wife of 69 years, Effie M. Cox of Early, Texas; one son, Tony Stephen Cox; five grandchildren, Stephen, Clarence, Elizabeth, Aron and Dennis. He is also survived by two sisters, Missy Jones of Comanche and Maxine Burns of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Geneva Mercer.

He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother.
