Violet June Miller Oswood, age 85, of Brownwood died Friday in Park Place Manor in Belton.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Davis and the Rev. Edwin Perkins of Belton officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
She was born March 29, 1924, in Brownwood, the daughter of Sam and Libby Martin Miller. She was married to Edward Dale Oswood in Brownwood on Jan. 19, 1946. He preceded her in death in January of 2000. She worked as a keypunch operator for GTE. retiring from there following many years of employment. She had lived in Brownwood for most of her life and was a member of the Nazarene church. She had a special enjoyment of music and will be missed by many who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Sam Oswood of Brownwood; a daughter, Judy Marshall and husband Kenneth of Belton; four grandchildren, Tony Marshall and wife Teresa of Beebe, Ark., Terry Marshall of Belton, Ashley Giroux and husband Chris of San Angelo, and Bradley Oswood of Brownwood; two great-grandchildren, Samatha Giroux of San Angelo and Amanda Brown of Arkansas; two great-great-grandchildren, Tyler and Austin, both of Arkansas; a sister, Jinkie Joiner of Brownwood; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and two sisters, Mary Norman and Georgia Graham.
