Funeral services for Howard Clyde “Sandy” Wesson Jr., 59, of Brownwood, Texas, will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, in the Central United Methodist Church, Brownwood, Texas, with Dr. Gary Torian, the Rev. Pat McClatchy and Don Ramsey officiating.
Interment will follow at 3 p.m. Monday in the Midlothian Cemetery, Midlothian, Texas, under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home.
Family visitation was held from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at Netherton Funeral Home, 1914 Indian Creek Road, Brownwood, Texas.
Sandy passed away Friday morning, July 27, 2007, in Temple, Texas.
Sandy was born Sept. 6, 1947, in Lufkin, Texas, to Howard Clyde and Helen Maggard Wesson. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He participated in Special Olympics for a number of years, excelled in the 80-yard dash, and loved to bowl. He enjoyed living on the Navajo Indian reservation and watching the New Mexico sunsets. Camping, fishing, and making different crafts, particularly latchhook, were favorites of Sandy’s. Sandy loved Elvis Presley and enjoyed a trip to Graceland in Memphis, Tenn. Studying the Civil War was an interest of Sandy’s and he let everyone know he favored the South.
Sandy is survived by his mother, Helen Maggard Wesson of Brownwood, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Linda Kay and Bob Laury of Mason, Texas; an uncle, Reavis Lee Maggard of Houston; an aunt, Eleanor Maggard of Lindale, Texas; cousins, David Maggard of Strawn, Texas; Danny Maggard of Azle, Texas; Judy Hutchins of Lindale, Texas; and Judy Walls of Conroe, Texas; and other cousins.
Sandy was preceded in death by his father, Howard Clyde Wesson, in July, 1982; his maternal grandparents, David Samuel and Gertrude Stewart Maggard; and his paternal grandparents, Andrew Marvin and Pearl Wesson.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Central United Methodist Church, 1501 Second Street, Brownwood, Texas; or Aldersgate Industries, 5000 E. Hwy. 84/183 in Brownwood.
