Alejandro DeLeon Sr., age 77, of Santa Anna, died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at his residence. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman with the Rev. Santiago Udayar officiating. Burial will follow in the Santa Anna Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home in Coleman.
Alejandro DeLeon Sr. was born Feb. 1, 1930, in Santa Anna, Texas, a son of Nester DeLeon and Antonia Frausto DeLeon. He grew up in Santa Anna. In 1950 he married Amelia Martinez in Coleman. He was a retired machine operator for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Amelia DeLeon of Santa Anna; three sons, Bobby DeLeon and wife Cheryl of Lakeland, Fla., Eddie DeLeon of Santa Anna, Alex DeLeon Jr. and wife Shana of Santa Anna; one daughter, Mary Patrick and husband Perry of Santa Anna; one brother, Raymond DeLeon and wife Ofelia of Santa Anna; one sister, Avida Felan of San Antonio; 20 grandchildren, including four who were raised by their grandparents, Bobby, Delia, Tony and Danny DeLeon; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tony Adam DeLeon in 1956; four brothers; and three sisters.
Prayer Service (Rosary) was held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 23, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel.
