Funeral services for B.J. Carnes, age 38, of Brownwood be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Holtzclaw, and Bro. James Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Bangs Cemetery.

He died Saturday, July 5, 2008, in Coleman County.

B.J. was born on March 26, 1970, in Brownwood to Ben and Nona Carnes. He grew up in Bangs with his sister Carmon and graduated from Brookesmith High School. He attended several colleges until he received his license in Counseling.

B.J. married Jenny Long on Aug. 21, 1999, in Bangs. They shared the most precious God-sent gift, Mackenzie Carnes. She was born on March 10, 1994, to B.J. and Marcella Cutright.

B.J.ís passions in his life were flying airplanes, fighting fires and being the most awesome husband and dad. He had many friends and will be greatly missed by all. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Bangs and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA). B.J. had been a member of Brownwood Fire & Rescue since 2005.

B.J. is survived by his wife, Jenny of Brownwood; daughter, Mackenzie Carnes of Forney; parents, Ben and Nona Carnes of Bangs; sister, Carmon Carnes of Bangs; mother and father-in-law, Danny and Becky Long of Goldthwaite; mamaw, Mozell Long of Goldthwaite; two sisters-in-law, Tassie Ann Spradley and husband Tim of Goldthwaite, and Mindy Hopper and husband Craig of Priddy; three nieces, Ashley and Bailey Spradley and Ally Hopper; two nephews, Kendel and Mitchel Hopper; numerous aunts uncles and cousins; and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Brownwood Professional Firefighters Association, 809 Main, Brownwood, TX 76801.
