Funeral services for Wayne Forbess will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 in the afternoon at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 17, from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be at Gouldbusk Cemetery. Mr Forbess passed away Wednesday evening, Oct. 15, 2008, at his home after a sudden illness.

Billy Wayne Forbess was born June 2, 1936, in Brownwood to Harry and Lovena (Drybread) Forbess. He graduated from Brownwood High School in 1954, and was a member of the Brownwood Lion Band where he excelled as a trumpet player. He attended the University of Texas in Austin and was a die-hard Longhorn fan. During his early years he worked for Davis-Morris Funeral Home and then later with his father, Harry, at Forbess Insurance Agency. Wayne worked in real estate, insurance, and most recently as a mortgage broker with Amerinet Mortgage and Forbess Insurance Agency. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing the trumpet and competive shooting. He has many trophies that he won in shooting competitions and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

He was also one of the early members of the Brown County Sheriff’s Posse. Wayne enjoyed life in so many ways and he was his family’s biggest cheerleader. He loved his family so much, but more than anything he loved Jesus. He was the founder of the Full Gospel Businessmen’s organization in Brownwood and Faith Word Seminars, an evangelistic outreach. He was married to Brenda Martin on July 29, 1977, in Burkett.

He is survived by his wife Brenda; daughters, Sherri Marshall and husband Keith of Brownwood, Suzannah Strait of Fort Worth, Jamey Ember and husband Richard of Southampton, England, and Candy Herring and husband Brad of Fort Lauderdale, Fla; grandchildren, Van Marshall and wife Cindy of Brownwood, Cole Marshall and wife Patricia of Waco, Misti Michaelson and husband Richard of Fort Worth, Stephen Mize of Fort Worth, DJ Strait of Fort Worth, Teal Hamrah of Arlington, Kaye-Leigh Hamrah of Arlington, Hailey Brooks of Florida, Haiden Herring, Blaid Herring and Bren Herring of Fort Lauderdale; and great-grandson, Jace Michaelson of Fort Worth.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Danny Forbess, granddaughter Toni Gayle Marshall and step-son Barney Martin.
