Funeral services for Dorothy Ferguson, age 84, of Brownwood will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Torian officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday evening.
Mrs. Ferguson passed from this life at her home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2007.
She was born on Oct. 23, 1923, in Liverpool, England, to Robert and Jesse Sephton. While working in a movie theatre in Liverpool, she met Edwin Ferguson, a U.S. soldier stationed in England during World War II. They married on July 10, 1943, in Liverpool. At the end of the war, Edwin brought Dorothy to Brownwood, where they have resided since 1946.
Dorothy worked in food service at Brownwood High School for 32 years where she always had a smile and encouraging words for the students. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years, Edwin Ferguson of Brownwood; three daughters, Patricia Johle and husband Roger of Belton, Jean Rich of Austin and Betty Garner and husband Britt of Abilene; a son, Jimmy Ferguson and wife Vicki of Brownwood; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Stanley Sephton and wife Jaci.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Marion and a brother, Bobby.
