BANGS — Funeral Services for Alice “Modiene” Allen, 80, of Bangs, will be held 10 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Bangs First Baptist Church with Brother Lee Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Bangs Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Allen passed away Saturday morning, July 26, 2008, at a local nursing home.
Modiene was born June 22, 1928, in Thrifty, Texas, to George and Annice Hallford. Growing up, she attended schools at Buffalo and graduated from Williams High School. Modiene married A.M. “Buddy” Allen on Dec. 25, 1945, in Bangs, Texas. She retired after 35 years as the Assistant Vice President of the First State Bank of Bangs. She was an avid gardener and a very active supporter of the Bangs community.
Modiene is survived by a son, “Ecky” Allen and wife Glenna of Bangs; daughter, Shirley Geron and husband Darrel of Bangs; a brother, Robert Hallford and wife Gina of Abilene; two sisters, Georgia Anna Stone of Lake Brownwood, and Edna Sowell and husband Waymon of Sweetwater; a sister-in-law, Faye Hallford of Granbury; four grandchildren, Denise Pruitt of Bangs, Brian Allen and wife Michelle of Bangs, Nicky Hoover of Bangs, Roddy Geron and wife Roycelynn of Bangs; along with eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years A.M. “Buddy” Allen, who preceded her in death in January of 2008; a brother, Edward Hallford; and a brother-in-law A.J. Stone
