COLEMAN - Funeral services for James A. Burns, 80, of Abilene, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. L.D. Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, before the service. He died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2008, at Abilene Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 28, 1927, the son of Claud Burns and Ivy Neff Burns. He grew up in Burkett and graduated from Burkett High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was married to Patsy Farris on April 4, 1953, in Coleman. He worked for Zurich Insurance Company in Dallas 20 years. After retiring, he moved to Coleman before moving to Abilene in 1997. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Coleman.
Survivors include his wife Patsy Burns of Abilene; one daughter, Pamela Curoe of Abilene; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother, W.C. Burns and his son-in-law, Jason Curoe.
