Funeral services for Alene Horne, age 90, of Brownwood, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rick Davis officiating, interment to follow in Cox Cemetery, McCulloch County. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home. She passed away Sunday Dec. 23, 2007, in Brownwood.
Alene was born on Nov. 1, 1917, in Brownwood, Texas, to the late George and Effie Horne. She was employed for Walker Smith, Kimble Grocery Distributors, and also worked as the secretary of Howard Payne’s maintenance department before retiring. Alene was a member of the First Baptist Church and spent many years teaching Sunday school and working with the children.
She is survived by two brothers, Carl Horne of Brownwood, and Ernest “Pete” Horne of Salem, Ore.; four nieces, Jeannette Alexander and husband Marion of De Soto, Texas, Earlene Yeary and husband Leon of Clyde, Texas, Patsy Specht and husband John of Brownwood, and Marsha Manning of San Antonio; a nephew, Buddy Horne of Houston; numerous great-nieces and nephews; several great-great-nieces and nephews; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Horne; and a sister, Willie Heptinstall.
