Funeral Mass for Joseph Antonio Zapata Jr., 23, of Brownwood, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in Greenleaf Cemetery.

A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Zapata passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2007, near Brownwood.

He was born on Feb. 20, 1984, in Brownwood to Joseph Antonio Zapata Sr. and Cynthia Torrez Zapata. He attended Bangs schools and graduated in 2002. He was employed by Kohler Company in the ceramics division and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was a joy to be around and was always fun-loving and easygoing.

Joseph is survived by his mother, Cynthia Zapata of Brady; a sister, Amanda Leticia Zapata of Brownwood; a brother, Bryan Ruiz Zapata of Brownwood; aunts and uncles, Aristeo and Sandra Cardiel of Brownwood, Luis and Dee Zapata of Brownwood, Martin and Ramona Zapata of Brownwood, Mary Torrez of Brady, Lori Velez of Brady, Paul Torres III of Brady and Edward Castro of San Angelo; grandparents, Paul and Lucy Torrez of Brady; grandfather, Bernardino Zapata of Brady; great-grandparents, Carmen and Vincent Aguilar of Brady; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Zapata Sr.; grandmother, Maria Zapata; great-grandparents, Pablo and Amalia Torrez; and two brothers, Christopher and Michael Zapata.
