Geraldine Weathers Woodley, age 85, of Brownwood, passed away Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at the Heartland Funeral Home chapel in Early with Dr. Bill Fowler officiating. Burial will be at the Goldthwaite Memorial Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5 at the funeral home.
Geraldine was born in Goldthwaite, Texas, on March 21, 1923, to Ashley and Bertha Wigley Weathers. She was married to Thomas Alton Woodley, her husband of 43 years. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1989. She had worked as a seamstress and was the owner and operator of Jerry’s Alterations in Brownwood for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood. Formerly of Goldthwaite, she had been a resident of Brownwood for the last 25 years. After her husband passed she became the manager of the Applegate Apartments in Brownwood. She then retired and went on to the Vicksburg retirement Center.
She is survived by four daughters, Doretha Wanell Gongre of Brownwood, Deborah Cleo St.Andrie of Alexandria, La., Denise Ann Woodley of New Orleans, La., and Donna Kay Woodley of Burleson; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her faithful companion, Tiny Tot.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alline Vines and Johnnie Dodson, and one brother, Franklyn Dew Weathers.
