Dody Braswell, age 65, of Brownwood, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Lawrence Blackstock officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friend’s from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Glendola “Dody” Braswell was Born March 30, 1942 in Lesterville, Ark., the daughter of Aaron and Bonita Killion Newberry. Dody worked as a bookkeeper and was Vice President of Cypress Provision, a meat distributing plant, for 25 years. She married Gene Braswell on May 5, 1992, in Humble, Texas, they made their home in Brownwood in 2005, and they were formerly of Houston. Dody attended the Church of God and liked to crochet and tend to her plants.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Gene Braswell of Brownwood; mother, Bonita Newberry of Brownwood; stepdaughters, Dianna Kelly and Cheryl Shirley; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Milton Newberry of Pasadena, Kenneth Newberry of Fort Worth, Marlon Newberry of Sweetwater, Kevin Newberry of Brownwood, Stephen Newberry of Brownwood; sisters, Hilda Newberry Williams of Porter, Phylis Newberry of Brownwood and Karen Newberry Campbell of Brownwood
She was preceded in death by her father, Aaron Newberry; a sister Josephine Newberry; and a stepdaughter, Patricia Collins.
