Alicia Castaneda Salinas, 69, of San Antonio and formerly of Brownwood passed away Dec. 12, 2008, in Promise Hospital San Antonio, after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 15, at Delgado Funeral Home, San Antonio. Visitation will take place from 4-7 p.m. followed by a prayer service.
Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, in the Bangs Cemetery, Bangs
Alicia was born June 14, 1939, in Pearsall, to Fidencio Castaneda and Luiciana Patlan Castaneda. She was married to Jose B. Salinas on Aug. 12, 1970, in San Antonio.
She is survived by six sons, Richard Salinas and wife, Kimberlee of Brownwood, Joseph Salinas and wife, Huerta of San Antonio, Peter Salinas of San Antonio, Johnny Salinas of Austin, Steven Salinas of San Antonio, and James Salinas and wife, Michelle of San Antonio; five daughters, Joyce Molina and husband, Isabel of Fort Worth, Doris Diaz and husband, Danny of Brownwood, JoAnn Hernandez and husband, Manuel of San Antonio, Naomi Salinas of San Antonio, and Isabell “Elizabeth” Salinas of San Antonio. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gabriella Moreno, Lillie Vazquez, Petra Vela, Zoila Palmerin, Margarita Garcia; and brothers, Leon Castaneda, Alberto Castaneda, Cruz Castaneda, and Juan Castaneda.
Alicia was preceded in death by her husband, Jose B. Salinas; son, Johnny Salinas; daughters, Ruth and Lucy Salinas; grandson, Matthew Hernandez; granddaughter, Rebecca Valadez, great-grandson, Frank Gomez Jr.; sisters, San Juana, Francisca Zuniga, Estolia Morales, and infant twin sisters, Estolia and Ninfa Castaneda; and a brother, Jesus Castaneda.
