Charles Phillip McCain, 63 of Early, Texas died Monday, May 7, 2007, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Benny Allcorn officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Heartland Funeral Home. His body is to be cremated.

Charles McCain was born July 31, 1943, in Sweetwater, Texas, the son of Bruce and Marie Kral McCain. He grew up in Roby and graduated from high school there. Charles went on to Texas Tech and received a business degree and then to law school and the University of Texas, where he received his law degree. He married Martha Schmidt in Snyder, Texas, on July 31, 1965. He served as a municipal judge in Early and was justice of peace for Precinct 3 for five terms. He was a member of the Early First United Methodist Church and had lived in Early since 1976.

Survivors include his wife, Martha McCain of Early; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Jeannie McCain of Abilene; daughter and son-in-law, Marlo and James Karg of Roanoke; five grandchildren, Jordan and Andrew McCain of Abilene, and Heather, Julia and Emma Karg of Roanoke; mother, Marie McCain of Early; and mother-in-law, Lorena Schmidt of Early.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce McCain, and father-in-law, Andrew Schmidt.
