COLEMAN — Funeral services with full military honors for Freddie B. Burton, 78, of Coleman will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the Coleman City Cemetery Pavilion with Chaplain Steve Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at Stevens Funeral Home.
He died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Bangs Nursing Home.
He was born June 10, 1930, in Burkett, a son of Omar Isaac and Zula Porter Burton. He grew up in Burkett and attended school there. He served in the U.S. Army. He was married to Freda Morgan in Coleman on Feb. 28, 1958. He retired as water production superintendent for the City of Coleman. He was Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Burton of Coleman; two sons, Freddie L. Burton of Talpa, and Chris Burton and wife Linda of Coleman; four granddaughters; two great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; one sister, Willie Rider of Early; and two sisters-in-law, Madie Burton of Coleman and JoAnn Burton of Abilene.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Kay Burton in 1981; two brothers, Marvin Burton and Arnold Burton; and a sister, Thelma Lee Hindman.
