Graveside services for Randy Sledge, age 62, of Brownwood, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at Greenleaf Cemetery with Pastor Kelly Crenshaw and the Rev. A. L. Creel officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Netherton Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Wednesday evening at Netherton Funeral Home.
He passed away Tuesday morning, July 29, 2008, at Community Hospital in San Angelo.
Randy was born Dec. 13, 1945, in Brownwood to Elbert E. and Alma (Cunningham) Sledge. He lived in Brownwood all of his life. Randy worked for Dr Pepper, the Brownwood Woolen Mill, and was a warehouseman for Timmins Distributing until his retirement. He was known for having the first telephone and TV cable at the Sunset Terrace Apartments. Randy loved cattle and was a big family man.
Survivors include his mother, Alma Sledge, of Brownwood; brother, Craig Sledge and wife, Kyla, of Burney; sisters, Janice Wade and husband, Joe, of Zephyr, Teresa Horner and husband, Clarence, of Stephenville and JoLana Oliver and husband Terry of Zephyr; grandfather, Mack McCarty and a heck of a lot of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert E. Sledge; brother, Elbert Lee Sledge; and grandmother, Millie McCarty.
