Ed Harrington McGlasson, beloved husband and father, went to be with his Lord on May 11, 2007. Ed was born at Waco, Texas, on March 31, 1933.

Funeral services for Ed McGlasson will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Brownwood with Dr. Rick Davis and Dr. Robert Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Heflin Cemetery in Brown County under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

At the time of his death, Ed was a faithful member of First Baptist Church at Brownwood where he served the Lord as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He had also served as a deacon, teacher and in other areas of ministry at First Baptist Church, Midland, the Fellowship Baptist Church and Champion Forest Baptist Church at Houston.

He was a petroleum geologist for Mobil Oil Corp. for 35 years. He retired in 1990 and moved to Brown County from Midland. He was a graduate of Waco High School, Baylor University, and Louisiana State University. During his professional career, he was active in several professional organizations and authored or co-authored several geological papers and field guide books. He was president and honorary lifetime member of the Permian Basin Section of the SEPM.

Ed and his wife of almost 52 years were married on June 3, 1955, at First Baptist Church, Baton Rouge, La. He is survived by his wife, Lois Smith McGlasson, and two daughters, Linda Carol McGlasson of Wharton, Texas, and Janice Ann and her husband, David Sweet of Temple, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael Sweet of Belton, and James Sweet and Kathryn (Katie) Sweet of Temple.

He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Gene Crawford of Shreveport, La., and Dora Lynn and Richard Jackson of Waco, Texas; and several nephews, nieces and cousins as well as many friends.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Baylor University or to First Baptist Church, Brownwood.
