Funeral Mass for Julian DeLa Rosa Sr., 83, of Brownwood will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Serafin Avenido officiating. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Heartland Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Greenleaf Cemetery. He passed away Thursday, Dec. 10, 2009, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.

    Julian was born on June 19, 1926, in Santa Anna, Texas, to Felix and Josepha Martinez DeLa Rosa Sr. He was married to Amelia Rosales on Jan. 23, 1945, in Santa Anna, and she preceded him in death on April 8, 2009. A resident of Brownwood for over 50 years, he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was retired from the Swift and Purina Feed Mills. He loved his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren with all his heart.

    Survivors include sons, Joe DeLa Rosa and wife Mary of Brownwood and Sam DeLa Rosa and wife Sophia of Brownwood; daughters, Mary Guzman, Dolores Bernal, Linda Trujillo and husband Martin, all of Brownwood; daughter-in-law, Virginia DeLa Rosa of Brownwood; grandchildren, Julian DeLa Rosa III and wife Cheryl, Valerie DeLa Rosa, Chrisenthia DeLa Rosa, Nancy Sanchez and husband Abel, Becky Knutson and husband Dan, Vicki Sharp, Cynthia Gonzales and husband Robert, Ricky DeLa Rosa, Sylvia Cardoso and husband Hilarion, Ricardo Ibarra Jr. and wife Marta, Steven Ibarra, Diana Rodriguez and husband Juan, Crystal Buitron and husband Chris, Laura Wright, and Michael Trujillo; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Salazar of Santa Anna, Texas, and Herminia Cardenas of Brownwood; and brother, Alfredo DeLa Rosa of Corpus Christi, Texas.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Julian DeLa Rosa Jr.; and a grandson, Sam DeLa Rosa Jr.
