Boyd Dean Vick, 101, of Lubbock, Texas, passed away Dec. 16, 2007, in Lubbock, Texas. He was born on July 15, 1906, in Stephens County, Texas, to Christopher Columbus Vick and Maude Todd. He attended high school at Parks High School, graduating in 1925. He then went to Texas Tech, joining as a member of the first class at the university. Boyd married Kathleen Reagan in 1928 in Lockney, Texas. Together, they had three children. They moved to Lubbock from Brownwood in 1996.
Boyd was a member of the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the Good Sam Travel Club, and Meals on Wheels as a volunteer. He also supported the Ranching Heritage Center. He was an active member at his church, Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood.
Boyd was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in 2004. Those left to cherish his memory are one son, John Ronald Vick and wife Jeanne of Prescott, Ariz; two daughters, Geraldine Foster and husband Marion of Houston and Joanne Cagle and husband Bill of Lubbock; one brother, Gordon Wayne Vick of Plano; one sister, Ila Belle Burk of Rotan; seven grandchildren, Reagan Campbell, John Cagle, Rusty Cagle, Evelyn Jannssen, Paul Foster, Holly Carmichael and Noel Culbertson; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Hart Cemetery in Breckenridge, Texas, with the Rev. Kenneth Staton officiating. Memorials may be made to the Ranching Heritage Center at 3121 Fourth St., Box 43200, Lubbock, TX 79409.
