Sharon M. Sabatke, 68, of Bangs and formerly of Menomonie, Wis., died Friday, Dec. 9, at her home in Bangs.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, at Heartland Funeral Home in Early with cremation to follow and a memorial service to be held later in Wisconsin.

She was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Superior, Wis., the daughter of Lloyd and Doris Wieman Sabatke. She grew up in Menomonie, Wis., and later attended college at Eau Claire where she received her Bachelor's degree. She then graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Stout where she received her Master's degree and was currently working on her Doctorate through Capella University. She worked in the Education field in many areas including the University of Wisconsin System, Texas State Technical Institute in the West Texas Area and Western College in Snyder, Texas. She had been a resident of Bangs for the past five years and had served as a board member for the ARK, a shelter for battered women in Brownwood. She was a member of the Lutheran church.

She is survived by her mother, Doris Sabatke of Menomonie, Wis; her children, Shawn McVey of Chicago, Ill.; Jana Lindsley and husband David of San Diego, Calif., Shane McVey and wife Lisa of Eau Claire, Wis., Chad McVey and wife Mary Kay of Menomonie, Wis., and Jami Howell and husband Jim of Bangs, Texas; two brothers, Wayne Sabatke and wife Barb of Rice Lake, Wis., and Michael Sabatke and wife Joan of Eau Claire, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Destiny, Josh, McKenna, Bryna, Samantha, Conner, Lesley, Kayley and Jacob; and one great-grandson, Lucas.

She was preceded in death by her father; and husband, Douglas McVey.
