Alton J. Dobbins, 80, of Brownwood died Monday morning at a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 26, at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Zephyr Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1927, in Coleman, the son of Roy and Eva Cullins Dobbins, and had lived in Brownwood since 1948. He married Loutrell Fuller in Dallas on Sept. 21, 1948. He was an accountant with Texas Department of Transportation prior to his retirement and was a member of the 4th and Stewart Church of Christ. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Loutrell Dobbins of Brownwood; two sons, Alan Dobbins and his wife, Marietta, of Highlands Ranch, Colo. and Steve Dobbins and wife, Diana, of Winter Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren, Kerri Dobbins and Kristi Hays, both of Colorado, and Britni Camarda and Brad Dobbins, both of Florida; one great-grandson, Jace Hays of Colorado; a sister, Mary Ella Watson of Coleman; and one brother, J.M. Dobbins of Gladewater.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Jewell and Irene; his twin brother, Elton; and another brother, Floyd.
