Artie B. Scitern, 89, of Bangs died Friday morning, Dec. 4, 2009, at the Bangs Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Benny M. Allcorn officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, at the funeral home.
She was born April 5, 1920, at Mountain Home, Ark., the daughter of the late W.Y. and Lula Kaysanger Owen. She has lived in Bangs for more than 30 years moving there from California. She was a hairdresser most of her life and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was married to Hoyt Scitern who preceded her in death in 2002. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by her family very much.
She is survived by three daughters, Fontaine Carr of Oregon, Priscella Rutherford of Bangs and Debbie Horton of Ohio; three sons, Bill Scitern of Graham, Marshall Scitern of Florida and Woody Scitern of Stephenville; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Arlin Owen, Harley Owen and
J.B. Owen; a sister, Altie Owen; and a grandson, David Allred.
